There are any number of theories regarding the future; there have always been enough ideas about the future to fill several volumes. The science fiction novel I am in the process of writing (the creative process of which has been taking place for the past twenty-six years) has become my own personal Mount Everest, dealing specifically with the future, 2470-2551 in particular--I write it because it is there, it isn't going anywhere and it absolutely must be written. There are times when I imagine it ought to write itself, complete by 2470 when it begins with the birth of its primary protagonist. But until someone creates a Word Processor of the Gods...it's up to me.
